Two tall trees with curved trunks obscure a cluster of houses, suggested by overlapping red and black rectangles. The painting likely showsthe perspective of a hotel on Saint George’s Island, Bermuda. Demuth lived there with his friend Marsden Hartley, where they experimented with Cubism.
